 Spud Tacular of Druidale

"Spud"

Spud is another ex-stray and came from the same kennels as Snitch. She has a gorgeous tail that is usually stuck up proudly like a flag. She is another clicker trained dog, and as a result has been relatively easy to train. She was clicker trained to do BFA flyball and managed to run successfully in divisional flyball despite only a few runs in starters. She also runs in multibreed flyball as height dogs are always in demand. Thanks to Whiterose for letting us run with them in 2008 and 2009. Spud gained her Flyball Dog award (for gaining 200 points) at Drax on 5th May 2008 and her Flyball Dog Intermediate (for 1000 points) at Eggborough on 23rd May 2009. She gained the final points for her Flyball Dog Graduate (for 3000 points) at Eggborough on 30th May 2010. Well done Spuddy.

She did originally have recall problems, but these seem to be resolved now, especially if I have a toy! Spud would quite happily go off ratting given the opportunity and quite fancies the look of sheep, so I have to keep an eye on her when she if off lead and she is only exercised off lead in areas where there is no livestock for her to chase, although her 'leave it' cue is improving daily. Spud (and all the terriers) are now being trained to recall to whistle and this is proving to be very effective.

Spud loves to play chase games and will play bow at other dogs until they decide to play with her. This makes her a useful addition to my team of stooges.

Spud does get referred to as 'mash potato' and 'Mrs potato head'.
