Druidale German Shepherds and Spanish Water Dogs

Show dogs that work, working dogs that show

Zodiacs Princess of Pride from Druidale

"Willow"

 8th May 1991 to 13th October 2003

For a show dog, Willow had too many faults to mention, but her character and personality more than made up for her structural faults. She had her own individual sense of humour and could be guaranteed to make me smile. Willow was my Goofy Girl. Willow was nick-named 'Santa's Little Helper' after the dog of the same name in The Simpsons. They share so many characteristics, including that wonderful goofy grin.

Willow passed the Bronze and Silver levels of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, proving that she did have some brains. She was 9 years old when she took (and passed) the Silver level.

Willow was a very active dog for most of her life and acted like a big puppy. It was a cruel twist of fate that meant that she started to suffer from degenerative myelopathy. It was so upsetting to watch her gradually loosing all feeling and movement in her legs. Life just isn't far sometimes.

Willow was 12 and a half when her back legs gave up on her. I had promised her that once she couldn't walk, I would let her go to The Bridge to join her companions that were waiting there for her. The house still doesn't seem right without goofy Willow to welcome me home and to teach the puppies how to play. She was always such a gentle dog, not a bad bone in her body. Miss you my goofy girl.
